Hi!
With this I am applying to your open position as […], which appeared in my LinkedIn feed.

With my mix of experiences, competencies and my strong touch of “yes we can, mentality” I hope my profile interests you and I get to be the one who helps you with your current and upcoming IT security and privacy topics. All while I continue to develop myself and my passion in the security field.

I am a person who believes that being open, positive and having good communicative skills helps a lot in life. At present I am working as a Technology Officer and am responsible for an entire IT Infrastructure, where I put my broad IT and business competencies at test on a daily basis. On the side I also double in as a self-employed consultant where I most recently helped 50+ students getting their head around ITIL.

While managing an entire infrastructure is great fun and something I enjoy, what really gets me going are the security parts of it. The company I currently work for helps customers with their most precious secrets – patents. So you can say that security is a top priority.

To support me in my daily security work I have with me my ITIL, CISM, CISSP and ISO 27001 certifications and previous experiences. Throughout the years I have worked with customers in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, application development, IT and legal fields all with their unique challenges. Technical security, governance security, policy security and educational security – to be successful I believe you need to get all of them right. I hope that I with my experience and history can help you with all of them. Especially when you mention it is a position under development.

At home I have the love of my life, our 2½ year old kiddo and our dog who all upgrades me and makes me a better person every day.
Like sports? Yep – Hockey (GO Redhawks!). Whenever life lets me, I like putting my brain on test in with video games like The Witness, The Turing Test and Qube. Or just a simple game of chess. Documentaries over Blockbusters. Ice cream over fancy dinner. In-real-life over social media.

That’s me!
Life Motto: Whoever have had the most fun, wins!

I hope I get to hear from you to let you know more about me. Please use my contact details at the bottom of this page to get in touch.

Have a great day!
Tom

Work Experience

2018 - Present

Technology Officer

Responsible for all the technical stuff connected on the network. I make sure my colleagues have all the IT tools they need to support our customers. And while at it I make sure they are as spot on, secure and user friendly as possible.

What I actually do
Making sure things work as intended, you know operational security. Talking to and understanding my colleagues and the world, as communication is key to success. Answering the questions
what do we actually need, why and in what priority?”.
Securing the AWA-world with technology and processes,
because
not everyone is a white hat

2018 - Present

Self-employed consultant

Helping whoever needs a hand with their IT challenges.
No question is too stupid and no work is too small.

Help 50+ students understand ITIL? Need to get your company GDPR complaint? Safely migrate to the cloud? Setting up a new network? Need a new crisp looking website?

Whatever needs help with – I’m there!

2016 - 2018

IT Manager

Managed the IT infrastructure and IT operations department. Helped solve the puzzle of going from a product company to a
secure 24/7 cloud service provider. Analyzed where we were, and where we were heading. Helped transforming a mindset of “just in time” to “one step ahead”. Looked at and appreciated history, but buried things that no longer provided value to minimize attack surface and confusion. Oh, and I also made a highly appreciated employee password audit and presentation which helped colleagues understand hacking techniques and use better password routines.

2014 - 2016

IT System Specialist

Daily operations and management of IT systems. Gave extra love to the global security platforms including mail gateways, anti-malware solutions, vulnerability assessments and centralized patch management. Also driving the implementation of ITIL best practices – why reinvent the wheel when there is something that is proven to work?

2012 - 2014

IT Service Manager

Daily coordination of an global IT outsourcing. Gathered and analyzed information from C-levels and management and figured out what was actually asked and filtered it down the pipes to make sure it got delivered. Helped mature working processes and procedures using the ITIL framework.

2010 - 2012

Service Desk Team Lead

Managed a multi-national service desk performing top of the class service to a global pharmaceutical company. Learned to work with and value processes, both as a help in daily work but also in terms of legal compliance. Awarded Team Lead of the Quarter Q4 2011 – WIN!
